Tidal mud flats, accessible and not overlooked, where dog walkers et al are unlikely in UK.
If you look hard enough you will find them.
I frequented an area some 70 miles away, worth the effort.
One late summer warm evening, after the tide changed, walked backed to the car (2 miles). Covered head to foot in mud & a hat, drove back home, through a city centre, stopped at several sets of lights. People saw, what a thrill. Got home and took the last 3 photos 'Feeling the Mud' album.
