Retro Spanking-Februs Fessee |
Fessee was a British spanking magazine published between 1989 and 1992. Its title is the French word for spanking. There were eleven issues of 64 pages each, with 24 pages in colour. COVER ART: The covers of Fessee are highly distinctive: instead of a photograph, each carries a colour illustration by Paula Meadows (otherwise Lynn Paula Russell). LEGACY: For a short-lived magazine, Fessee is well remembered. This is partly because of its quality and partly because of a high degree of continuity between it and a later title. In style, ethos, and personnel, Fessee was the precursor of Februs. FEBRUS: is a British spanking magazine that was launched in 1994 as a sister magazine to Janus. From 1994 to 2003 its editor was the artist and actress Lynn Paula Russell (also known as Paula Meadows). Paula's association with Janus goes back to the early 1980s when she worked as an illustrator for Janus. Februs is designed to appeal more to female readers and concentrate on the spontaneous and erotic aspects of spanking, rather than its use as punishment as Janus does. The magazine's name is a play with words: the month January is named after the Roman god Janus, so logically 'Februs' corresponds to February (although there was never a Roman god of that name).

Retro Spanking - Kane magazine |
Kane was a British spanking magazine published between 1982 and 2011. There were 107 issues numbered in simple sequence. The first 69 issues of Kane (1982-97) were edited by George Harrison Marks, a softcore pornographer of long experience who had previously edited Derriere and Janus in 1981-82. He took most of the photographs that appeared in the magazine. Kane printed short stories, photographs, drawings, interviews, and opinion pieces on the subject of spanking. Among British spanking magazines, Kane was second only to Janus in longevity and influence. It fostered the idea that spanking was not an interest that had always to be kept secret and gave the impression

Spanking - Misc |
The majority of english-language spanking magazines were published in the U.K. prior to the emergence of the American video-influenced spanking market in the 1980s and 1990s. The better-known British magazines of this era include Janus (1971-2007), Roue; (c. 1978-1988), Phoenix (1980-1991), Blushes (c. 1980s), and Kane (1982 to present), created by Harrison Marks. Many of these were successful enough to launch spinoff magazines. For example, Janus produced the sister-publications Februs (1994-2003), Derriere, New Derriere, Privilege Club, Privilege Plus, and the Femdom-based Obey.
