I'm at a crossroads in my life I never pictured myself being at. I just spent a week in rehab because I thought I needed to clean up and to my surprise, all of my "supporters" were dissapointed that I didn't stay the full thirty days. So rather than argue about it I'm giving them what they want. I will spend the next 21 days among people like me helping them find the root of their addiction rather than trying to teach them coping skills to deal with it. I learned after buying my last bag of dope today that I can't survive without drugs as long as I continue to own all the blame for my issues rather that making those responsible for making me want to escape the reality of their presence. We all have secrets and we all want to live the perfect lives but in order to let go of the secrets and strive for perfection, one must surround themselves with people that they never have to explain themselves to. I, for once in my lifetime and proud of who I am and will spend the next 21 days planning my future without those that I have blindly let tarnish my self respect and hinder my success. IThis is a pretty simple message that all addicts need to hear. Stopping your addiction only makes you miserable because of the people who are around you when you're sober. Go to an AA or NA meeting, even if you're not an addict and I bet you 'll find at least a few life long friends and true supporters. You can do it on your own only if you are the only one you need in your life, otherwise be yourself and you will be amazed at how many willing participants to faithfully support your journey you will attract.
