The studio printed hundreds of thousands during WWII, and the military distributed them in ration packs. It was called a leg shot but it's obviously a butt shot. They couldn't say that in those days, and they knew it. By the time bluenoses got wind of it it was hugely popular with the troops so they couldn't say anything without being called unpatriotic. Besides it being a cool shot for the time the studio knew they had to publicize it heavily to get away with it. That's why they only published one shot like this.
