Alan can’t stop smiling. He was barely a twinkle in his father’s eye when, at midnight on August 1, 1981, MTV made its first broadcast with The Buggles’ Video Killed the Radio Star.
Since then cable TV has spread across the world, and MTV now brings us far more than just a constant stream of music videos. There’s Beavis and Butthead for instance, but Alan isn’t interested in cartoons. It’s MTV’s 'Jackass' he is a major fan of. Oh yes, he can definitely see himself becoming the next Johnny Knoxville, the Jackass presenter who made his name by shooting himself and writing an article about it.
Alan is certain he’s found a shortcut to Jackass type success (no bullet proof vest required, hopefully) with E-MTV, a UK production company searching for a Knoxville-like presenter for its own ‘special’ version of the US original. ‘It’s going to be like Jackass, but with just a few subtle differences to make it MUCH more fun!’ or so the advertisement read anyway.
