Max is a British documentary photographer, musician, and long-time artistic collaborator. She first entered the music scene in the late 1970s playing for the all-girl punk band Baby Strange before moving to New York to record and perform with her band Alagator. After relocating to London in 2007, she became a close creative partner to renowned poet and author Salena Godden. Throughout the late 2000s and 2010s, Doray was a core fixture of the Book Club Boutique arts collective, performing as a bassist and multi-instrumentalist in the Book Club Boutique Band and the all-female lineup SaltPussy. Today, she works primarily as a documentary and travel photographer. Her recent portfolios include visual ethnography projects spanning the UK, the US, and Southeast Asia, such as her 2025 portrait series documenting the community DJs of Colorado radio station KVNF. When she was in UK she aperared on several WNBR rides fully naked.
