It seems many of you are still a big fan of Sigourney Weaver as Ripley! In the follow-up to Alien (’Aliens’) she rescues the young orphan Newt and in all hectics they develop a deep, intimate mother/daughter-like bond. Then the filmmakers made a big mistake by simply declaring her dead in the 3rd movie, and we never heard from her again. Most fans of the franchise thought this was wrong, because it made all efforts of Ripley in Aliens useless and the potential of their strong bond was not leveraged. So, here I am with an alternative timeline! In ’Aliens the second coming’ we are 10 years later. Newt has survived, is all grown up and has become a tough young pilot on a starship. Ripley comes back from a long mission battling aliens and is deeply excited to finally reunite with Newt after all these years. Driven by her vague memories, Newt has developed a strong saviour complex, making Ripley (an obvious lesbian anyway) the centre piece of her emotional development, but also of her sexual fantasies. It all comes to an unavoidable wild climax that very same, otherworldly night. They still have a bond, just a different one now. Nothing alien about it :)
