Zorana Unkovi? (born in Split,Splitsko-dalmatinska, Croatia on 12. 11. 1988) is a Croatian visual artist, painter, art pedagogue and singer based in Zagreb. After the city of the school of Applied Arts and Design in Zagreb (graphics department), she earned a degree in graphic design, and then completed undergraduate and graduate studies in Fine Arts (teaching major) at the Academy of Fine Arts, University of Zagreb. She developed her painting education in the class of prof. Matko Veki?, and in 2014 she earned a master's degree in fine arts education. She became involved in the independent cultural scene and the organization of art events early on (e.g. the group exhibition "Art Weekend Medika"), and further expanded her working experience with young people through international programs and volunteer projects in Belgium and Germany, where she is involved in creative workshops and international cooperation. In parallel, she is also developing a socially engaged interest through education and work volunteer (e.g. the program of the Center for Women's Studies, Green Action, Collaborate and Research/Educational Activities). In her artistic practice, she builds works that function like a cartography of inner states: layers of color, texture, line, and written words merge into a visual language of signs and “instructions,” often connected to themes of mental health and self-analysis. The materiality of the substrate (e.g., textile rough structure, seams, folds, patches) is not hidden but emphasized, as a visible trace of experience, growth, and recovery. She has been a member of the Croatian Artists’ Association (HDLU) in 2014, an exhibits of solo and in the numerous group exhibitions, participates in art colonies, and realize public interventions and murals.
