Cheri and Sandy from Tamed 05, a Buy-Rite magazine published around 1979 or 1980. A favourite Andy Adler set, I was always a little disappointed that he never digitised the images and put them on his website like he did with other photoshoots. Back in the day you could buy photosets directly from Andy who created catalogue cards for each. The catalogue card for this one calls the models Cheri and Sandy. Cheri (Cherry in the magazine story) was Copper Penny, but unfortunately I don’t know the blonde lady’s name. I have used AI to restore and colourise this photoshoot and I am reasonably happy with the results. z-image turbo and Qwen 2509 are not too bad at restoring old images and Qwen is OK at recolorising. My copy of the magazine is old and faded and the colour images in it vary quite a bit so I didn’t worry too much about getting the colours perfect – I just put things like ‘pink walls’ or ‘ragged straw coloured carpet’ in the prompt. I am still learning a lot of this AI stuff, and in my hands I find Qwen is pretty good at not changing things too much whereas z-image turbo will change things, including faces, quite a lot unless you keep the denoise and CFG at low values. What I like about z-image is that it will smooth out the graininess of old photos so it’s a matter of finding a sweet spot between too much plasticky smoothness and too much graininess and fading – it even managed to extract a couple of so-so images from the catalogue card that were not in the magazine, I was quite impressed by as that card is only 592 by 792 pixels and 96 dpi.
