Fairy Tales often have quite a dark theme. Or sexual. Or both. The apple in Snow White obviously stands for erotic seduction. Having sex for the first theme is the undercurrent in Little Red Riding Hood, The Sleeping Beauty and The Little Mermaid. The dangers of the outside world are obvious in Hans and Gretel. So I thought, would have been classic source material for Rembrandt. What might it have looked like? Well, here you are :) Other fairy tales you think deserve a Renaissance remake?
