When I published an earlier ‘Rembrandt’ style paintings gallery, my French friend llorens31 said that Rembrandt’s own life with women - wild as it probably was - could be a good subject as well. That got me thinking! I ended up with Dutch painter Vermeer first, maker of several masterpieces, including the world-famous Girl With A Pearl Earring. Who this beautiful girl (I mean, played in a movie by Scarlett Johansson!) exactly was has been much debated: somebody imaginary, maybe a house maid, maybe even Vermeer’s own daughter! In any case, it has often been suggested that Vermeer’s wife Catharina was quite envious of the young woman. So, in my mind one thing would lead to another, and I am pretty sure it would have provided Vermeer with some hot inspiration. Here is my vision on what he would have painted. Hope you like it!
