Virginia Robyn Hey (born 19 June 1952 in Coogee, New South Wales, Australia) is an Australian actress, best known for her role as Pa'u Zotoh Zhaan in Farscape. She also played the Warrior Woman in the film Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior. She has various roles in television series, such as lawyer Jennifer St James in E Street. Hey began her career as a fashion model after being discovered at a bus stop by POL magazine editor Wendy Adnam. She appeared on several magazine covers and started her acting career in television advertisements (57 in all), television dramas and films in Australia and the United Kingdom. In 1979, Hey appeared in live TV performances with The Buggles for their song "Video Killed the Radio Star", including on the BBC's Top of the Pops and on German television. She appeared in the music video for the Mama's Boys song "Needle in the Groove" in 1985. She left Farscape (1999) in February 2001. Her reason for leaving was that she had shaved her hair and eyebrows for three years for her role as Zhaan, and wished to grow her hair back and regain her health due to the extensive prosthetic makeup upsetting her kidneys. She was considered for the role of the main Bond girl in the James Bond film The Living Daylights (1987), but she lost it to Maryam d'Abo. However, she did secure a small role in the film. Virginia Hey was diagnosed with Stage 4 Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma DLBCL cancer in June 2022, which is cancer of the lymphatic system. It metastasized/spread into her bones, causing the destruction of a large part of her tibia bone in her right leg.
