Let's continue on our harem tour. Many harem owners simply hated eunuchs, for whatever reasons. They employed only older women, so called HAREM MATRONS to act as guardians and disciplinaries. These older women were very strict and many time vicious in handling the harem concubines, especially the new coming virgins. Hare matrons were recruited from different places. Some were olde "retired" concubines. Some Pashas hired white European women with specialized background like school teachers, prison wardens, etc. A proper matron was always a mature woman, usually very corpulent with the accent on her bust. Good matron was extremely large breasted to evoke respect.
