A: The pictures are from an underground BBS called “Frontier”. It was active from 1997 to 1998 until the administrator, BOBY and one other admin were arrested on Feb, 2 1999. Please note that in Japan, pictures that expose the genital area are illegal.

A: 168
Q: Are they still being made?
A: NO
Q: What kind of photography equipment was used in these series?
A: He seems to have been using at least two cameras. A point-and-shoot type small one and a single lens reflex camera. You can see the tips of them in pix V00138_11, V0052_29 and v0054_26.
I think the single lens reflex camera that Boby used is Pentax MZ-10. (The MZ-10 is a small single lens reflex camera for beginners.) As for the compact camera, I haven’t yet got the model name because there are too many small cameras on the market and the old ones are replaced by the news ones at very fast rate.
The Men
Q: Who was Boby?
A: He was 38 years old at the time of the arrest. He is, according to the BBS log, a handsome guy who drives a Jaguar (You can see its interior in V0053-01.jpg)
Q: Did he take the pictures himself?
A: Yes, all the pictures branded ‘Photo by Boby’ were taken by Boby while he was fucking the girls. He did it all by himself. The way he used the mirror to give his photos aesthetic angle is remarkable!
Q: What would be a typical girl-hunting experience?
A: What do you mean by ‘typical’? If you want to know his typical way of hunting, I have some clues. According to the partial BBS log that I’ve got, he hunted girls on the street maybe with the help of Jaguar or he went into dating club and got ‘the catches’ there. Sometimes one girl provided him with the next subject and that went on. But apparently he had good times and bad times. In the logs he talked not just about getting laid but about girls turning him down even before he opened his mouth to say hello. Boby seems to be the guy who was really enjoying his ‘part time job’.
Q: Any clue where Boby is now - in jail? . . . or if he appeared again on the BBS?
A: No clue to where he is right now. He went to trial and was sentenced to SOMETHING. But don’t know what kind of sentence he was under nor if the sentence was suspended or not.
The Girls
Q: Who are the girls?
A: The girls are “hunted” on street of Tokyo, Yokohama, and other big cities near Tokyo with high population rates.
Q: Are they professionals?
A: They are not professional models, they are real amateurs except for a few girls. (ex. V0049, V0100, V0127 is the identical person and a not-so-famous porn star.)
Q: Were they paid?
A: According to a newspaper article, the girls were paid from 15,000 yen up to 50,000 yen. In case you don’t know, at the time Boby was hunting girls, there was a trend of young girls going for prostitution too easily (there was a term “enjo-kosai”). Enjo means aid and kosai means dating, I think the word came out of nowhere just to soften what the girls were actually doing. We in Japan don’t have a network of prostitution, like in US. There are no pimps. Enjo-kosai even became a social issue to the point where the police made up a poster saying “enjo-kosai” is prostitution.
