"Hangings are supposed to be grim, solemn affairs and preparing the condemned to die is a difficult business. All of these women had to be harnessed or bound before they were taken to the gallows, but the hangman couldn't help but notice that the woman on the extreme left wasn't afraid or nervous like the rest, but rather seemed almost giddy with excitement. Now he can see why as she gives him a couple of thumbs up after he has pulled the lever and dropped her and the other condemned inmates just enough to tighten the nooses around their necks, but not enough to break any of their cervical vertebrae and render them unconscious. She was excited because she is deriving some bizarre sexual thrill from the experience and he recognizes the signs of the rare, but not unheard of, phenomena. She will be dead soon enough from asphyxia, but until she dies there is nothing to be done to prevent her from taking this one last pleasure-the perverse little bitch."
