It was a day like any other. People all around the world went about their daily routines. No one could have foreseen what would happen on that momentous day. A strange surge of energy all at once across the world struck. It lasted less than a second. However, it’s repercussions would last a lifetime. Almost the world’s entire population was affected. People’s minds were suddenly shunted into other people’s bodies. Age, gender, and skin color were no barrier to these shifts. Fortunately, the Great Shift did not send most minds very far, but in some cases, minds were set out of state or even out of the country and around the world. Language became a huge barrier for these unfortunate souls. Mass panic immediately set in, and it was days before order was restored. No cure could be found. The scientific community collectively agreed there was no going back. Humanity would just gave go on. People would have to adapt to their new lives.
