You get a notice in the mail that you owe a small fortune in local back taxes. You are furious and concerned about what might happen. Your wife volunteers to go visit the local tax office and see what can be done to straighten things out. The man at the office says there is nothing to be done, they must be paid. After some negotiations, he agrees that perhaps he can be convinced to set them aside until next year.
