The Story of O ( Histoire d'O) is an erotic novel by the French author Anne Desclos (writing as Pauline Réage). Truth be told, I didn’t read the book until the 1980s, but saw the film version done by Just Jaeckin in 1975. And, again, to be honest, it didn’t turn me on. In fact, it was a serious turn off -- pain just isn't appealing to me. However, O's costuming was another thing entirely. Later still, I discovered that there are companies which make versions of the "O dress" for home use, and that they are quite popular with (mostly) female buyers.
