The hierophant refers also to Taurus, the bull and other animals with thick hide from which leather may be sourced. The hierophant unites the microcosm with the macrocosm. Implicit in this structure is a hierarchy. The hierophant has a distinctly sadistic aspect, though not unnatural, as this aspect balances a choice. The choice, delicately balanced, is the structure on which any hierarchy rests.
