Question: Is the density of semen greater than or less than that of water. (Or, is the specific gravity of semen greater than one or less than one)?
Discussion: Density is the amount of mass a material has in a given volume. The density of water is one gram per cubic centimeter. Materials that have a greater density (> 1g/cc) will sink in water; those with a density less than 1 g/cc will float in water.
Results: As seen in the photos, semen (at least this sample) sinks in water, thus its density is greater than one gram per cubic centimeter.
