Jana Plichtová (born June 10, 1950 in in Brno, Czechoslovakia[now Czech republic]) is former actress on Czechoslovak cinema. She is an actress, known for Oil Lamps (1971), Sweet Games of Last Summer(Original title: Sladké hry minulého léta, 1970), Tükörképek (1976), Oil Lamps (1971), Day of Idiots (1981) and Parta hic (1977). The outstanding Slovak actress and later psychologist Jana Plichtová was born into the family of film director Dimitrije Plichta, and thanks to this, she was familiar with the film environment from childhood. Her adult film career was only started by her collaboration with the Slovak director Juraj Herz, who chose her based on photographs for the main role in his television adaptation of Maupassant's short story "The Fly". The film Sweet Games of the Past Summer (1969) showed the young Plichtová in several positions, but mainly accentuated her charms. Herz himself recalled that it was extremely noticeable with the actress how she was "loved by the camera" - in ordinary life she was a completely inconspicuous girl, but on film footage we immediately see her unusual beauty as a redhead and the ability to shade a whole range of emotions. Last summer's film Sweet Games won the top prize at the Monte Carlo Television Film Festival for direction, cinematography and leading female performance, but time did not favor the free-spirited crew and the film went to the vault by regime censors. Plichtová then appeared almost only in supporting roles, with the exception of the Hungarian film Mirror Images, for which she received the award for the portrayal of the main female role at the New Delhi film festival. After 1993, Jana Plichtová ended her acting career and became a professor of psychology at Comenius University in Bratislava and the students cower in fear before her. Who would have said that then :-)
