Sônia Maria Campos Braga (born June 8, 1950 in Maringá, State of Paraná, Brazilis) a Brazilian actress. She is known in the English-speaking world for her Golden Globe Award–nominated performances in Kiss of the Spider Woman , Moon over Parador, Tales from the Crypt and Sex and the City. She also received a BAFTA Award nomination in 1981 for Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands. She starred in the film adaptation of Jorge Amado's Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands (1976), in the central role of Dona Flor and as Gabriela in Gabriela, Cravo e Canela. She earned American recognition and a Golden Globe nomination for performance in Kiss of the Spider Woman (1985), and was nominated for a second Golden Globe for her performance in Moon Over Parador (1988), where she played the part of Madonna Mendez.
