QR Code for Sending Messages

Hi, everyone. I just sent a message to another user and ran into a problem: when I clicked the checkmark to confirm that I’m not a robot, I was prompted to scan a QR code with my smartphone. Fortunately, there was an option below for the familiar classic image search, which allowed me to send the message to the user.

I’d like to ask if there’s any reason to worry that, in the near future, all users—or at least some of them—will be required to scan QR codes with their smartphones every time, or even just once, to pass the CAPTCHA? I hope this nonsense won’t affect this site and that we’ll stick with the classic image-based CAPTCHA—and under no circumstances move on to age verification via smartphone cameras and so on and so forth?

Personally I would stay away from clicking on any QR code. I say that because you really don't know what it is.

I would go on to say that I am surprised QR codes still exist due to what I just said.

It seems to be a regular feature of your ReCaptcha, fish. I also had that a few times in the past but without an alternative option. Quite annoying if you are on desktop.

M'yeah, I guess so. If you are on a website that uses the codes for their own links.

Here? A crap shoot for sure. Generally when a sit moderator sees anything to do with QR it gets ditched.
