And that in itself was interesting because my wife always liked to be on top when we had sex, which was only a few times a year if that. She said she could never feel comfortable with anyone to give them total control of her, to become completely submissive. I couldn't blame her for changing her mind and feelings when my boss courted her, Margaret had a natural, alpha superiority about her, she wasn't violent or overly aggressive, because she didn't need to be, you just got the sense she would easily best you, physically or intellectually. You trusted her too, she was wise and just. I guess she just gave my wife the kind of security and safety she always needed, like a nervous sparrow who finally found the right mate to nest down with, my wife had finally found home. They didn't even want the sperm I offered to donate so they could have children, Margaret said they'd take their time but when they were ready she was sure she could find "better stock." My wife giggled and kept putting the groceries away, she never even turned to look at me when I left the house.

I don't know, her poems weren't overtly describing women at first, just declarations of love and romance. I thought for awhile I was bringing it out it her, I tried to trick myself into thinking I had something to do with her losing weight, taking more pride in looking sexy, seeming more confident. The color and life came back to her face and eyes, she seemed 10 to 15 years younger. I started noticing her noticing other women more, complementing women not just in their looks but in their qualities and intelligence, she would defend them with honor and grace. She always bested me in debate, until I'd be sitting there stupefied, agreeing with whatever argument she put forth. I think it was about then I started reading her poetry, she had a whole bunch of poems devoted to Athena, goddess of the hunt. Rich, passionate stanzas about tropical voyages and women pirates. They were not sexual in nature, yet, but involved deep, powerful relationships between women at the expense of men. Her boss Shelia was coming around alot, and the two of them would go off to Shelia's apartment to write, and as my wife put it, "dream-share" together. I was just happy she decided to get creative again.
