Any tips on getting it in?

To make it stand, you wet it.
To make it wet, you suck it.
To make it stiff, you lick it.
To get it in, you push it!
DAMN IT!
Why does threading this needle have to be
so sodding awkward!

Well... if you don't want
to wet it to make it stand
to suck it to make it wet
to lick it to get it stiff
to push it to get it in...
...just shove it through a piece of thin wire arund that is attached to a steel plate. Then it's quite easy to pull it where you want.
Just use a needle threader. 😂
