Many years ago as a young man I was taken on by the owner of the local cinema. It was a part-time job, just general maintenance and odd-jobbing as required. I was to be there during opening hours and other times as required.

Quite often there was very little for me to do except wait around for any problems that might develop. Usually it was me, the projectionist and two or three local girls on duty, one on the ticket machine, the other(s) ushering and generally looking after the patrons.

Because the cinema often hosted X-Films (as they were known in those days) all employees had to be 18 years old or more. Alec (the owner) was what you would call a strict but fair boss. He paid relatively well and had a knack of choosing the best looking young girls from the local estate to work for him.

One thing he was particularly strict about was the girls' appearance. He provided each girl with a uniform which was to be worn at all times when on duty (though there were occasions when this requirement was varied; more about that later). 

Alec's uniform for his girls: short black pleated skirt, white top and black stockings and suspenders. A lot like traditional waitress uniform, and Alec said the white top made the girls more visible when the lights were down during a film. The skirts were short even by the standards of those days and I'm sure that's one reason the cinema was so popular with local men.

The girls had to provide their own bra, panties and smart black shoes of course, though  I'm sure Alec would have loved to provide these items as well.

So as a young man I had much to enjoy at work, looking at pretty young girls wearing a sexy, skimpy uniform. And, of course, imagining what was under the uniform...
