What is Protocol?
When a slave chooses to serve the Master, that choice is similar in many ways to joining a monastery. In both cases, the person entering service gives up a great deal of personal freedom, and agrees to abide by a set of rules governing her life. In Benedictine monastic tradition, those rules are simply known as ‘The Rule'. In Master/slave relationships, they are called Protocols.
This document describes one specific Protocol: the one that a slave serving (your name) is asked to follow. Most of the rules in this Protocol are fairly standard in the modern Master/slave tradition, even if this specific set is unique. However, other Masters will certainly have different Protocols for their slaves. The use of the words ‘Master' and ‘slave' in this Protocol should be understood as referring only to members of the one specific household that follows this Protocol, not Master/slave relationships in general.
When serving the Master, the slave specifically grants the Master the right to control her time and body. That control includes (but is not limited to) her dress, her appearance, her movement, her speech, her privacy, her use of money and possessions, her actions and her sexuality.
The slave does not ask permission to take an action, nor make requests for actions she would like the Master to take, for her discipline is to fulfill the Master's will, rather than trying to fulfill her own. The slave is an extension of the Master, and strives to obey the Master's will in all things. A slave asks questions of a Master in order to understand the Master's intentions regarding her service. Every question a slave asks regarding her Master's intention becomes an order once the Master answers.
In the Master's home the slave will normally be naked and collared when it is deemed appropriate. For example after the slave as cooked and served Master's dinner. The slave may be used sexually by the Master at any time of the day or night. The only exception will be the when the slave is sick. The slave will sleep with the Master or will sleep on a mat at the foot of the bed.
In public, the slave will wear what clothes the Master wishes, wears a collar, will normally walk behind him, may sit only when told to, may purchase only the items that the Master directs her to purchase, and may wear restraints under her clothing.
Depending on the exact agreement with the Master, the slave may or may not choose to give the Master control over her possessions and finances. However, when in service, the slave does give up control over her use of her money and possessions; she may only use her money and possessions in ways directed by the Master.
This stripped-down lifestyle is the default condition for the slave. The Master can make exceptions to accommodate physical disabilities, work requirements, special needs, and so on. Although the slave (like everyone else!) will benefit from learning humility, the purpose of these restrictions is not humiliation or degradation. Rather, it is to give the slave practice in obedience, by following a discipline, and to enhance her focus on service by removing distractions.
