What is a slave?
A slave is a person who has a special heart, one that requires a connection with another person, a Master, for her to find completeness and balance in life. A person is born with slave heart; she cannot be "made" into a slave, nor can wishing bring it about. In that sense, being a slave is a natural state of heart and mind. A slave fulfills her destiny by choosing to serve a Master and to live in obedience to his will, much as a nun chooses to live within the confines of a convent and obey the Rules.
Contrary to popular beliefs, slaves are very bright and capable people who may make many decisions which affects the day to day lives of others in many areas.
However, generally speaking, slaves do not make decisions easily or well when it concerns themselves and that is one of the reasons why they will seek-out guidance from a Master.
A Master is that still point, the center around which a slave organizes and makes sense of her life.
Once the slave truly understands that her existence is more complete and fulfilled in being obedient, everything else falls into place.
A slave speaks in order to convey requested information, or to request information about the Master's intentions. A slave eats, sleeps, washes, exercises, takes medication, and so on in order to remain healthy and available for service. A slave labors at tasks assigned by her Master or holds an outside job so that she can contribute to the Master's household and not be a financial burden. Anything a slave is allowed to do for personal gratification is a gift from her Master, not a right - and this is a source of joy, not regret, because it means that all pleasures are occasions to be thankful. When this aspect of slave heart is realized, a slave starts to find peace in her life.
Ultimately, the reason a person becomes a slave is to find joy by bringing joy to a Master, in the form of the slave's service, obedience, and intimate connection to Him.
The Gorean slave girl
"The Gorean slave girl knows who she is, the utter property of her Master or Mistress. Her condition, though abject, is honest. No one lies to her about it, not even she herself. She knows she is owned, and must do as she is told. She knows she is a woman, and must behave as one. She knows she is female and a slave. Should she forget this, punishment will remind her.
The Gorean slave girl if nothing else is commonly no stranger to love. She is not permitted to be. She is at a Master's/Mistress's beck and call and accordingly, willingly or not, will be taught love. If necessary she will learn it under the whip writhing in chains.
