    Why porn is not immoral

Lately I saw Axelle Red, in Belgium and France a famous singer/songwriter, on television. She also comes up for women and childrens rights all around the globe, as she is an ambassador for Unicef.

On television she said that, to stop the exploitation of women worldwide porn and prostitution should be forbidden.

I can understand this point of view. There's a lot of exploitation in the sex-industry, but that's not really what this is all about. I'm against exploitation of any kind, but I don't feel like feeling guilty when I'm getting horny by seeing a picture of a nude woman. What Axelle Red is trying to say, is this: 'In porn women (and men, but she doesn't mention them) are looked at and threated like objects, not like humans. For that reason porn is immoral.'

I'm not even going to deny the first part. It's not like when you see a girl naked that you "know" her. Maybe you know what her anus looks like and you know she has a gorgeous smile, or something, but you don't know what kind of movies she likes, whether or not she likes children etc. The only reason one might like a porn-girl, is because she gets you horny. Basically you could say she's just an "object" for your desires.

But when you go the Calvin Klein website ( january 2009) you'll see that they're trying to sell their jeans with sex. The models have jeans on their legs, but all of them are threated like objects to sell jeans. Maybe Axelle Red doesn't like the way Calvin Klein does it's promotio, but sure as hell she doesn't even think about forbidding CK or erotic commercials.

One does look at people as if they were objects all the time. Basically every television show or movie where the characters are just action-figures, threats these humans like objects. But no-one will say these men of women are exploited. It's just when it comes down to make people horny or make them cum, that it's wrong to look at people like objects, otherwise - certainly if the material is not erotic in nature - it's perfectly okay.

I feel like it's just the opposite. If we wouldn't look at porn-people as objects, that would be immoral. Take the Abby Winters site for example. They have some sort of a 'community' of amature models. You can chat with the girls and there are plenty of 'behind the scenes' so that you can see how the girls are enjoying themselves. All the girls in AW are presented as horny, cute, beatifull, sexy, optimistic, full of joy of life.

Of course, and everybody knows that, nobody has these characteristics all the time. I'm sure the AW-girls sometimes feel depressed, sad or angry, but the site doesn't show that. Of course not, if they would do that their girls would become "persons" is stead of "objects". The girls would become more vulnerable and - as opposed to posing nude or having sex - it would be an attack on their privacy.

I realize there's a lot of porn that's about humiliation. You could say that from as soon as a model is humiliated, the porn becomes immoral. On the other hand, there are people who like to be humiliated so that makes it more complicated. Generally I believe that from as soon as people start lying, porn becomes immoral. If for example a girl agrees to do a nude-shoot, but on the set you offer her some money so she does some lesbian action, but the girl refuses and you start to insist and you're saying things like the girl won't get payed at all, you're treating her immorally.

It could be that there is more exploitation of women in the adult-industry than in others. People should fight against any exploitation of anyone, but I don't think forbidding porn is a good thing. People are in their right to use their bodies to make money, we - the porn-audience - are in our right to get horny and cumming while watching these bodies.

I feel like I can tell a hell of a lot more about this subject. You'll have to wait 'till my next blog though.

    Feel free to comment.
