Pay for porn?
|
|
Other than pay admission to an adult XXX-movie theater or the like which I do quite frequently, why in this world would any person of sound mind pay to obtain porn.
I ask because many porn sites I visit for the first time require debit or credit cards to join and it amazes me that in this day and age some still pay for porn.

I've paid for a month or two on a couple different sites, but that was for specific performers that otherwise have very little on free sites

Also, the industry likely uses free sites (like this one) to draw people in. On more than one occasion, I've seen a clip on pornhub or a photoset on ifap that looked titillating enough that I felt I had to have it. Sure, I probably could have pirated those pieces- but then, the companies that make my favorite porn wouldn't have the benefit of my business. Enough people do that, the content stops flowing. One shouldn't underestimate the addiction model or customer loyalty when it comes to a pleasure-based business like pornography.

Eh, you figure that something like half of all people browse the internet for porn, and of those, something like 20% of people either:
A. Are old enough to be used to paying to porn, and don't really see an alternative
B. Have enough disposable income that it's worth paying a bit more for premium sites
C. Have (very) specific fetishes that just don't get community or amateur content
And I can see how you end up with something like 20-30 million people willing to pay for online porn/sex services. Figure those 30 million people average $25 a year (a single bang bus sub al the way to active cam girl support), you end up with a $750 million industry, I can see where all the money comes from.
Market sizing is fun!
