This is a subject I've written about a couple of times. You can read the first here and the second here. On Thursday I received a wonderful message from someone who was eager to offer her used pads and tampons to me, she was great with responded to e-mails, and everything seemed to be going fine. We agreed to meet up today in the afternoon. I got up early to get ready to meet with her, I got prepared to meet where we had agreed to do so, I opened my e-mail and... nothing. So I waited, and contacted her, and waited some more, and then contaced her out of concern to see where she was. As it quickly grew close to when we were suppsoed to meet, I figured she might not be responding since she was driving, so I went to our agreed upon location and surprise, I waited. After 20 minutes I went home, and tried to contact her a few more times just to find out why she flaked out. Of course, I have not received a reply.
Seriously, what does ANYONE have to gain by doing this?! I mean, you've wasted your time and you've wasted my time, what could you have possibly gotten out of it? It's not like the people who do this are there to see that I'm disappointed that they flaked out on me. I'd have been annoyed, but I would have at least been understanding if this person had contacted me and let me know that they wouldn't be able to make it instead of leaving me wondering if they're coming or not, or if something might have happened to them. This is beyond irritating at this point and the sad thing is that it happens so much that in the back of my mind I'm kind of assuming anyone agreeing to meet with me is going to flake out, which is really a cynical and horrible way to think that I'm not fond of having. Why is it so hard for someone to follow through when they say they're going to do something? I don't understand this, especially not when both people were on the same page for the scheduling process and clearly understood each other. I'm beyond sick of people flaking out on me, especially when I make sure to keep a clear schedule to meet with them. What I really want to know though, the question I really want answered, is why does this keep happening to me?
