I have often been asked on the chatroom if I would go on "tox".  I would say no, but then I tried it.

The idea is that the messages are encrypted.  I think most use that so they can send "dodgy" content in text, that they could not otherwise use on this or other chatrooms.

 So that makes me warey to start with.

 But here is the main reason.

Most are on there to share images.  On certain websites or even chat systems, you can share photos and view them, but you don't have to "Save As".  So someone sends you FIVE photos.  You have no idea what they are.

You click the Download arrow icon and save it.  Then you view and my goodness, someone has sent you illegal material.

I know as this happened to me!  I Deleted it instantly and moaned at the user.

Second reason, if they send you a file, it could contain dodgy code.  Spyware.  It can happen!  "Encrypted" doesn't mean safe.  It just means it cannot be intercepted. 

So next time someone asks you if you would "go on tox".  I'd strongly advise saying NO, and if they push, as why?  What's wrong with being here?

 If it is to send acceptable images then fine.  But are you sure they are sending you acceptable images.... legal and non-spy???
