For the love of all that is holy, if you're going to color-correct and otherwise edit photos, please make sure you have a properly calibrated monitor. Lately, I've been seeing a huge number of photos show up that have very obviously been run through some sort of processing that results in the images being completely blown-out color-wise. Whites are overblown and colors very posterized. And, just to top it off, everything has been over-sharpened.
The result of all this is a bunch of really terrible looking images. So bad that it's a mystery to me how even an amateur wouldn't see that the pics suck. All I can think is that 1. There's some new editing software that a lot of people have started using and/or 2. The monitors being used are way out of calibration and people are judging their results by what they see on the monitor, which is completely inaccurate.
