I met my wife just a year after she gave birth to her baby girl. Just a few short months later she started calling me daddy. Shortly after that her mother and I married followed by my adopting her daughter as my own since her father disappeared. Things were great though due to an illness my wife had she could no longer get pregnant but I had the family I wanted. When our little girl was just 10 her mothers illness had gotten the better of her and she lost the fight causing myself and our little girl both great confusion and depression. Hannah and I became quite inseparable to the extent that we were rarely see without each other with school and work being the only exceptions and she'd been sleeping in her moms place almost since her mother left us. As she hit puberty the boys flocked to her. She was becoming the goddess her mother was. I was pleasantly surprised that she paid them no attention at all as I was not ready to deal with her boyfriends. It was at this time though that she started inquiring about why I hadn't had a girlfriend. I really had no good answer for her except to say that it's becaused I'd only ever pictured her and her mother and I together forever. She replied with "hmm", accompanied with a look of deep thought. We continued watching our movie on the couch then about an hour later (I couldn't believe she'd been thinking about it for that whole time) she says, "daddy... I'll be your girlfriend and we can be together forever"! The innocent look in her sweet barely over 13 year old eyes as she snuggled up close just wouldn't allow me to break her heart by giving any other answer than "I think that would be wonderful Princess" giving her a big hug a kiss on the cheek then we lay there both falling asleep.
