LIFE V. CHOICE The pro-life and pro-choice movements primarily come into conflict on the issue of abortion. The pro-life movement argues that even undeveloped human life is sacred and must be protected by the government. Abortion must not be legal. The pro-choice movement argues that in cases where human personhood cannot be proven the government does not have the right to impede a woman's right to decide whether or not to continue a pregnancy. What everyone on both sides fail to acknowledge is the religious nature of the conflict. If one believes in an immortal soul that is implanted at the moment of conception then there is NO difference between terminating a week-old pregnancy or killing a living, breathing person. Rational members of the pro-life movement do acknowledge that there is a difference in abortion would be involuntary manslaughter rather than murder but the death of a human person, are regarded by pro-lifers in much the same way.The United States government cannot acknowledge the existence of an immortal soul at conception without taking on a specific, theological definition of personhood.According to a study conducted by the Guttmacher Institute, 68% of women who have abortions in the United States say that they cannot afford to have children and 27% cite this as their primary reason for terminating the pregnancy. 20% cite health reasons. 38% are young women either hiding pregnancies from their parents, or ordered by their parents to terminate their pregnancies. Many Pro Lifers beilive that God is Pro-Life and Abortion is the deliberate murder of innocent human beings for selfish purposes. It is worse than what was done in Nazi Germany to the Jews (and others). Any moral person should be outraged that these attrocities are performed anywhere in the world.that those who perform or hire murder should be prosecuted for premeditated murder (first degree murder). Those who assist in the abortion, should be prosecuted for participating and enabling in a premeditated murder (second degree murder). in cases where a woman is raped Abortion is still wrong. The child is innocent of the act and deserves life. In addition, the abortion further tramatizes the woman and makes the situation worse. If the woman finds the presence of her child tramatizes her about the rape, placing the child up for adoption is an option. but if you think about it Sure the child can be given up for adoption but they are condemning that women to carry the memory of the rape for 9 months which can lead to thoughts of hate, suicide, self loathing, and prolonging the trauma of that experience. The decision of Roe vs. Wade in 1973 was based on the survivability of the fetus outside of the womb. when the first breath is taken the Legal Definition of a person is A living, breathing human beingalso church's fight for the government to leave them be but it's not a one way street.they too must leave the government alone for not everyone has the same views and should not be forced to hence the separation of church and state is in place and should be upheld!
