This was back in the late 90's or maybe 2000, before the US got security crazy after 9/11.
My wife and I were what age back then ? Mid 30's. Wow that seems young now looking
back, seems like yesterday but she was 38, I was 36.
My wife was missing her high school days, she was a preppy, proper slutty girl with
a burnout edge back then. As she got older, the plain talking, jean wearing, nice to all guys
fun girl who will get high with you was who she turned into. We made money and did well
in our workday worlds...yes you get it.
So, it was Friday night, the local football team from the school we both attended, we went to
the same HS and same college but never "hooked up" till our 20's in the last year of undergrad.
OK, she wanted to go to the game and pick up a high school guy. Most women would never ever
bring that up but cat was out of the bag...OK, I will play along.
We go to the game, her plan was to just smile and say hello to any boy who looked her over.
Bottom line....fail !! No one said a word beyond hello. We get home, she felt old and the entire
plan just did not work out.
So, I offered to give her some advice. First, wear a skirt, wear a shirt with a logo that can start
a conversation, third, smell of alcohol, four be assertive, have some vodka in your purse or back in the car,
not back at home. When we were in HS we went back to the parking lot, drank, got high and went back.
Next Friday, she was in her denim skirt, patterned tights (tights were still in fashion but fading away at that time but it
was cold out...they worked and rather than plain black...they made you notice her).
Yes, she found a few guys looking at her, picked one and took him back to the car for drinks.
They came back, we hung out, nice guy. Kids born in that generation who are now in their late 20's and 30's
related to their elders as equals. Short time later, she and the kid leave again, 10 minutes later she calls and tells
me they are back at the house.
I stayed till the game was a blowout and walked home...
We hung out, had some drinks, he walked home from our house...we both had a story to tell. Wherever he is..he is 34 or 35 now
