Part 2 covers more serious matters about privacy and anonymity on the Internet. Most people are not this concerned about their privacy because the worst that can happen is embarrassment. If you are risking your lifestyle, money or freedom, you might skim through these hints and tips.
Clean your computer - or get a new one. You might already be under surveillance.
Watch your back. Beware of social engineering.
Consider how vulnerable your data would be if someone stole your computer or hard drives.
Hard drive encryption, and good password
Volume encryption w/TrueCrypt.
Select a good VPN provider, and use it correctly.
Consider a TOR network configuration, and use it correctly.
Beware of unintentionally leaking sensitive information.
Erase your tracks.
Consider using an encrypted email system, such as protonmail.
Consider using several levels of browser protection:
Never use Internet Explorer
For Firefox and Chrome, use the following extensions:
LastPass
AdBlockPlus or uBlock
NoScript
Privacy Badger
Change your privacy settings to clear history (places visited, cache, open sessions) when the browser closes.
have a good login password for your computer and mobile devices.
Always log off your computer when not in use.
