How to be Anonymous, Part 1
|
Ok, so Edward Snowden's headlines about the NSA's spying on US citizens doesn't scare the crap out of you. But having your dick and tit pics discovered by family, friends and co-workers does? Fine, we'll work with that. Here's a good starting point for your Armor of Anonymity. This should all be common sense. If any of this is a surprise, you need to rethink what your ego is telling you.
Don't put any of this in your profile or share with anyone:
- Your real name or your real face
- Email address, physical address, phone, birthday, credit card number
- Where you live, where you work
Have a SEPARATE email address for porn uses:
- This address can be from an ordinary provider, like Yahoo or Google.
- This address must NOT contain anything identifiable, like your name or how you are known to your friends and family.
- Use this email address for porn sites and communicating with porn friends - and NOTHING ELSE.
- NEVER use your normal email address for porn.
Learn how to lock down your computer, sensitive files, accounts and passwords:
- Use a hard-to-guess login password for your computer. Do the same for your smartphone and tablet.
- Use an encryption program like TrueCrypt to hide your porn collection.
- Use a password manager like LastPass to keep track of all those logins.
Secure your browser from unintended eyes. For example:
- Always use "private browsing mode" for porn sites.
- Never set "auto-login" for porn sites or anything that has sensitive data.
Never go to porn sites from anywhere other than your own personal computer, smartphone or tablet.
Consider using credit card alternatives, such as "single-use" or "virtual" credit cards. These are for use online, such as when a web site asked for a credit card for verification. Bah!
When taking porn pictures and videos for uploading, or when you go on video chats:
- Consider using a costume mask and a colored wig.
- Cover up birthmarks and tattoos, and those family pictures behind you.
- Don't say your real name.
- Lie about where you live.
- Lie about your birthday.
There will be a "Part 2" later. I'll have to consult with Ed Snowden for further advice, and he's really hard to reach.
