    A proper caption

Many captions in the caption category lack the substance needed to make them truly enjoyable. A good caption boasts good writing, as well as good lisibility. I will explain both those concepts.

    1- Writing

Many people, including many authors of captions, do not understand what a caption does to a picture. It is supposed to complement the picture, not replace it entirely. A good caption provides a backstory, a narrative, a fantasy and the development or the climax of a story in a minimal amount of words. Too many times I read captions that amount to little more than 'oh yes brother lick my clit' set to a picture of a heterosexual couple deep in the act of cunnilingus.

A proper caption should not feel forced - in the example above, the relationship between the two protagonists is forced upon the reader by the inclusion of the word 'brother'. There are two important points to take out of this single sentence:

    1) Nobody in real life would call their brother by this name. They would call him by his first name.

    2) A caption relying on only one (or two) sentence is trash. I've seen my share of those. Simply put, they do not provide anything that the image did not already and you may as well not write it in the first place.

A good caption relies on a certain buildup to convey its message. Instead of this one sentence, write this instead: 'for years now Emily had tried to get her brother in her bed, without success. All it took was leaving the bathroom door open as she took her shower one night and by the time she got out, he was laying naked under her covers. Emily shivered as he undressed her: was it really going to be this easy? What followed next meant only one thing: it was'.

Notice a few things: I gave one of the protagonists a name, I created some buildup that eventually led to what was going on in the picture (without necessarily reiterating what's happening in the image), and I created the story of these two people in only a few sentence. It was relatively easy to do so, there is no excuse to churn out lazy captions.

Of course, you may want to illustrate the picture with an entirely different feeling than the loving but sudden relationship I examplified above. Here is another example for the same hypothetical picture: 'Lila has always been a dominant woman. In school she would always volunteer to organize the yearly school dance. At work, she quickly became the project lead in a team of 7 people. It should come as no surprise that she remained dominant in the bedroom. When she noticed how much her brother tried to get close to her when she came to visit, she did not waste time: she grabbed his hand, led her to his bed, told him to undress, and, positioning her hands on his head, she guided him towards the first step of his future: a boytoy for his sister, to call on whenever she needed some quick relief'.

There are many ways to write a caption and I believe the personality of the author should show in their work. As you can see from my two examples, I like not describing exactly what is happening in the picture, but it is not necessarily a decision to forbid.

As for the subject of a caption, anything goes. I have sometimes seen the same picture used in 5 different captions by 5 different people to tell 5 different stories. The general rule is that the caption must be linked to the picture in some way (for example mentioning the redness of her hair), but some authors go overboard and end up mentioning every trivial point: that her hair is red, that she's wearing a blue dress, that she is smiling... ultimately, what should fit with your caption is the porn (the position, the instruments, etc.), not the people.

Remember that you are selling a fantasy: anything you can do to help this fantasy is a plus. Be creative! However, you should also strive to be succint: long captions surpassing even 500 words become tedious to read; we're here to masturbate, not read erotica: that's what the picture is for.

     2- Lisibility

Some captions are simply impossible to understand. A very important rule should be pointed out first: check your orthography and grammar. You are a shame to the profession if you cannot even check your spelling before uploading your caption. A mistake takes out the reader of the fantasy and reflects badly on yourself.

Another reason some captions are difficult to understand is because the author tried to explain too much at once. There are too many people involved (sometimes off-camera), or, worse yet, the text is a garbled mess - lacking in paragraphs, punctuation and colours.

Indeed, good lisibility implies looking at the caption as a whole, not at the words, to make sure it is understandable. If your caption requires that more than one person talk, then colour their text (blue for a man and pink for a woman is just fine. If your caption is long, make paragraphs. If characters have a dialogue, skip a line each time someone else starts talking.

Generally, captions are written in white on a black background. That way, the picture is untouched while the text, set to the side, is easily readable.

One sure way to test your lisibility is to have someone read your caption and tell you what they thought of it. Since most of us are too ashamed of what we do to share it with friend, your second best bet is to write it once, read it again to correct some errors and mistakes, and then leave it be for a while, either while you finish more captions or do something not related to porn. Come back to it several minutes later, and see if you still understand it or if something hurts your eyes.
