A CNN poll found that 1 in 5 women admitted to having sex with someone other than their spouse/boyfriend while in a committed relationship. Since women are not very willing to divulge such facts , that number is probably 3 in 5 and probably close to 5 out of 5 of women who have thought about doing it.

Wanting sex with the right male is driven by hormones - when a man who is sexually attractive to the female and emitting the right mix of pheromones comes near her, her own hormones kick in and the urge to breed becomes her focus. Most of the time we girls suppress the appetite as society doesn't take a kind look at us being sexually active with many males even when we are single (see terms like whore and slut etc).

It is also natural to ensure that she gets to pass on her genetic properties with the best male and not put all her eggs in one basket or with one male. In the animal kingdom the male is chosen by battle, and it is natural for the female to mate with the winner and even violently reject the loser.

At the same time the female has the wish to look for a stable partner to care for her when she is weak and ironically the same properties that make the best man for breeding the best man are the ones that make him the worst for the job of taking care of her. Aside from the financial aspects the female is looking for a caring partner to raise her offspring to the point when they are not as dependant on her. And from that point she will start looking for another strong individual to mate with.

From the males point of view, the battle with another man, even if lost, does not finish the war.  He will try to ensure his dominance over the female whomhe regards as his and wants to make sure that the he gets to breed her. For that purpose he must make sure the competitors semen is removed from her vagina and his put it place. Scientists have confirmed that the male penis has evolved to be how it looks like for just that purpose - the foreskin has not only the function of protecting the sensitive nerves concentrated in the "head" of the penis, but also trapping competitors semen whithin it's folds (so think before circumsize! haha)and the"head" of the penis is shaped like a pump because the edge at the base of the head fuctions as a scoop, removing competitors semen from the vagina. It is also natural to lick or use the mouth as a tool to remove the competitors semen from the vagina. That is also most likely the reason that the cuckold is obliged to clean the vagina of his partner in life from the semen of others.

Forming a social hierarchy based on sex and dominance is a very natural thing, it's seen in nature all the time with alpha males but in the more intelligent naturals like chimpanzees the females help too, often using a weak male as a kind of babysitter or servant while going off with the dominant male. In our closest relative the bonobo chimp males exert dominance over other males in a similar manner to the cuck/bull relationship.

From the female perspective it's natural to want to breed with a stronger male and to seek dominance over and deny sex to the weaker male (weaker in terms of breeding). To this end the females seek to show the weaker male that she has been bred by a better male and literally rub his nose in it establishing her dominance over him.
