    More on the CB6000

The original comparison was actually written almost a year ago, and so I have a bit more follow up.

Although not nearly as bad, or as frequent, there is a small edema problem with the CB6000 as well. I think that this will be an issue for growers more than showers. It has to do with the changes in size of the penis and how the skin can get folded and trapped in the cage. One of the advantages the CB2000 had was the bars in the cage. Those bars would allow a Q-tip in to rearrange and smooth out any skin folds. Of course it also made them more likely. Guess there's a trade-off to everything. For me, it seems to work best to be out of the device for several hours a day. This avoids the edema issue, allowing swelling to go down if it has happened, and even if there is no teasing, the time out of the device can be easily "supervised" in the evening at home with my wife. This also allows for device and privates cleaning.

Hygiene continues to be the biggest drawback for the CB6000. In as little as 12 hours of wear the cage itself can have an odor. Taking a shower with one of those hand held sprayers allows me to direct the water right into the pee slit. This definitely helps, but is still not quite as good as taking it off and giving it a thorough cleaning. If it were not for the edema issues for me personally, I could see that this cleaning technique might suffice for at most a week before it would need to be removed for a really good cleaning.

I've noticed some versions of the CB6000 with opaque cages, colored like wood, or camo. These are cute, but I would advise against them for long term wear. I think you need to be able to see if there is edema developing, or anything else that might be troubling.

I've gotten pretty proficient at putting the device on, but it is still a little tricky. I have to use the "sock trick" and I still have to give it a second try about a quarter of the time. The cage needs just the right amount of lube in just the right places, AND the "sock" must not be too far up the penis, or too far down.

    SOCK TRICK

I don't know who came up with this first, but it really is clever, and works better than any of the other ideas I tried before. The short version is use a small woman's stocking (like those kind that just go up ankle high) to slip over your penis, feed the toe of the stocking through the cage and out the pee slit and then line up and pull the stocking through by the toe and it drags the penis along with it into the cage.

Now in practice there are some potential difficulties. First we use a woman's stocking because the material is stretchy and very thin. This will become important when you realize that a common first mistake is to have pulled the stocking all the way up the penis to the body and now you are fully in the cage and there is still more stocking to pull through, and it is very tight and you can't easily pull out, or keep pulling the stocking through. So lesson one: don't go for broke pulling the stocking on. Unfortunately the "right" degree of insertion into the stocking is something you'll have to experiment with. Too deep in and there will be too much stocking left in back of the cage to pull through after you are all the way in; too little, not deep enough, and the stocking pulls out of the pee hole and your penis isn't even half way into the cage. For me, it seems to work best if the stocking top is just about half an inch or so behind my penis head.

The next issue is lube. Some people talk about putting it all over the penis and/or inside of the cage. Maybe that works for them, but for me (a grower) that only made it easier for the penis to slip around, and potentially create some bunch up of skin that is the beginning of edema situations. So I liked the idea that the penis head shaped cavity might hold me in place better. So I just put a little lube on the inside of the cage at the opening only - only about a quarter of an inch in. This allows the stocking to pull through a little easier, but leaves the penis and the rest of the cage relatively dry to hold onto me and keep me stretched into the cage.

The extra difficulty in getting the stocking trick just right and all is well worth the better and safer fit. Even if I have to repeat the attempt I'm getting it on relatively quickly and easily.
