I read this joke & at the end of it, I did not laugh, I just felt angry & saddened!
For those of you who found it amusing I have taken the same joke and manipulated a few of the key points. However the delusional mentality of the soldier applies in exactly the same manner as it does in the original.

THE ATHEIST AND THE SOLDIER - THE ORIGINAL
A United States Soldier was attending some college courses between assignments. He had completed missions in Iraq and Afghanistan . One of the courses had a professor who was a vowed atheist and whom loved vocal demonstrations.
One day the professor shocked the class when he came in. He looked to the ceiling and flatly stated, "God, if you are real, then I want you to knock me off this platform. I'll give you exactly 15 minutes."
The lecture room fell silent. You could hear a pin drop. Ten minutes went by and the professor proclaimed, "Here I am God. I'm still waiting." It got down to the last couple of minutes when the Soldier got out of his Chair, went up to the professor, and punched him; knocking him off the platform! . The professor was out cold.
The Soldier went back to his seat and sat there, silently. The other students were shocked and stunned and sat there looking on in silence. The professor eventually came to, noticeably shaken, looked at the Soldier and asked, "What the hell is the matter with you? Why did you do that?"
The Soldier calmly replied, "God was too busy today protecting America 's soldiers who are protecting your right to say stupid shit and act like an asshole. So, He sent me."

THE ATHEIST AND THE SOLDIER - COUNTERPOINT
Some Al-Qaeda warriors were attending flight training school in the USA awaiting their assignment. They had completed missions in Israel & the Balkans. They despised the USA & the West, all were infidels who worshipped false idols and supported the concept of secular democracy & freedom as a basic right of all peoples, everywhere.
One perfect September morning, the infidels went about their usual routines, climbing their Ivory Towers & flamboyantly displaying their heresy and challenging the supremecy of Allah! Their very existence offends the perfectness of God!
This affront to Allah's greatness could no longer be tolerated. And so, God's warriors acted with ruthless determination & the the world fell silent in horror soon after. America, bewildered could not comprehend from where or why the blow had been struck.
One Al-Qaeda warrior failed in his holy quest & was captured. The interrogators looked at the warrior and asked, "What the hell is the matter with you? Why did you do that? The warrior calmly replied, "God was too busy today protecting Muslim's around the world." "So, he sent me."
Too save any misunderstanding my thoughts are not anti-America. I am a passionate advocate of the USA, both the ideal & the reality. While most of Europe was ruled by Kings, Queens, Popes & Tyrants, this great secular democracy battled its way into existence. In many ways it freed us all from tyranny, just by being. Unlike alot of people around the world, my rage at 9/11 is still as potent today as it was the day after, these brain-washed FUCKS, unleashed this outrage, in the name of the one true GOD!
