This is my first blog on the internet.  I thought I would share some memories that stand out in my childhood involving Hosiery.

 The first memory I'd like to talk about is when I was roughly five or six.  I was visiting with my mom and brother a friend's house.  There were four kids in that family and the oldest two (both girls) were the same age as me and my brother (5-6 and 3-4).  I remember playing in the  two girl's room with my brother and the two girls were wearing longer blue skirts and red cable knit tights.  At least that's what i thought.  The girls had a bunk bed and the eldest "S" was climbing the ladder (to our castle as we were king and queen) and her skirt slipped  past her knee and I saw that she was wearing socks not tights and they were slightly too big for her going over her knee.  My first over the knee sock sighting! I was intrigued but being so young I was just interested and fascinated at that.  As we kept playing her sister "R" pretended to be hit by an arrow from the imaginary enemy and fell to the floor.  She was also wearing socks I saw, when her skirt rolled past her knee! Her socks were the same as S's and reached her thigh.  I was rivited.  I proceeded to fix her up by bandaging her leg with some scarf and felt the socks.  This memory has stuck with me since i was a Kid and is probably the start of my Hosiery facination.

My parents were very religious growing up so we spent almost every Sunday in church.  Thinking back at how many hosiery sightings I had from church alone I almost think it was worth the years of indoctrination and missed sunday morning cartoons.  One sighting that comes to mind is one that happened when I was about 15. It was a regular sunday and we had arrived early.  I had met up with my friends and the rest of the youth and we were standing about talking about some event we had planned.  In our group there were about 4 girls the same age as me that were at church every sunday.  I had a huge crush on one of them (K) and always fantisized what she was wearing.  This sunday she was wearing a long ankle lenght skirt with slits on both sides that reached mid calf, mary jane type shoes and tan nylons.  I figured they were pantyhose and thought some "impure" thoughts.  I glanced at the other girls.  Her best friend (J) was wearing a black just below knee lenght skirt, black lace up oxfords, and tan pantyhose. The other two girls wore similar outfits with just above the knee skirts, black heels one and the other black flats, and both had black nylons on. As our group normaly did we sat together and I sat next to to K.  Once the singing was done and the sermon had started I happened to glance down and noticed that K's skirt had ridden up enough that the slit was showing the top of her tan knee high.  I looked again and quickly looked up.  I was sure I had turned red but made a concious effort to look straight.  I didn't last long and kept looking down and staring at her nylon clad calves wishing I could touch them.  Juts then J, who sat on the other side of k, crossed her legs revealing her tan knee highs.  I had to take a double take.  This was insane, two knee high spotings in one day.  I was in total fantasy land for the rest of the day and all I could think about were the girls legs and their knee highs.

The two girls continued to wear kneehighs to church and a few times I saw K at school with rainbow over the knee socks and the same skirt.  I saw a lot of women and gIrls wearIng knee highs to church, I guess pantyhose was out of fasion but the winters In Canada are too cold for bear legs.  I think that if you can get away without people knowing what you're wearing under your boots or skirt/dress go for it! It makes the sightings of your stockings, knee highs, socks, overknee socks etc that much more amazing.  My personal favourite is long skirt with kneehigh boots and knehigh socks/nylons, but that's another story
