Are tights dying out?
|
|
I have had a tights fetish for many years so I dare say us
tights fetishists notice tights and think about tights far more than your
average person in the street. I remember when I was a teenager, my local
supermarket, well indeed any supermarket 20 odd years ago used to have a
hosiery isle that took up a considerable amount of space and department stores
had hosiery sections with large displays. I remember feeling the urge to straighten
the tailored toe of the tights on the foot of the manikin dummy displaying
them, ha ha ha, sad but true. Now, walk into a supermarket or department store
these days and it is usually a different story, the fully hosiery isle has
become maybe 3 lines of shelves and the fully hosiery section in many
department stores has been integrated with the lingerie section (bras and
knickers etc.) I am not from a retail background so maybe someone who is could
explain why this has happened, I can only assume that hosiery sales are not
what they used to be 20 years ago. I make an exception for black opaque tights;
teenage girls seem to love them or have to wear them for school. I think sheer
tights, 7 to 20 denier, may well be on a decline and seem to be worn more by
the old end rather than teenage girls who are of course the next generation of
tights wearers. For me this is a worrying trend! What are your thoughts on the
subject? Comments please?
