Time Runs Out
|
24 was a novelty when it first began, a challenge to how people made and watched TV. Telling one story over a 24 hour period was a hard sell to the network, to say nothing of an audience that was used to being able to "miss" an episode here and there with little impact of following their favorite show. Jack Bauer became an icon character, slipping into our culture and even political conversation. But along the way, the novelty wore off. Each season revealed yet another mole at CTU, one of the most inept spy agencies ever ... yet another situation in which Jack went rogue and was being hunted by both friend and foe because he was right ... yet another corrupt political official who was manipulating the system at the highest levels. The initial formula became a straight-jacket and the show became an echo of itself. All that said, Kiefer Sutherland, Howard Gordan, Brian Grazer and all the cast and crew have given us many a fine, fun TV thrill. Thanks to all involved. Looking forward to the movie, whenever it comes together. And always remember - Superman wears Jack Bauer pajamas.
