So...I really, honestly intended to start writing here. But, for some reason, things just kept getting in the way. Life stuff. Like my Dad. He started having really bad back pains right after the new year. He ended up having to have back surgery in March and is still recovering. Basically, he's totally useless around the house because he can't do anything. The doctor won't even let him mow the lawn because of the bouncing around he would get on the riding mower. So, I've been over there a lot helping Mom do all the stuff Dad used to do. Dad's really, really frustrated by the situation. And, as it turns out, so is Mom, but for a whole other reason. Y'see...they can't have sex while Dad recovers.

One thing I discovered when I got engaged (and subsequently married) was that my relationship with my Mom changed dramatically. We could always talk about personal stuff, even when I was a teenager. But to a point. It seemed that, once I commited to marriage, it's like Mom and I became best friends...And I don't have to tell my girlfriends out there how best friends share everything.
