Anime and bondage have seemed to go together for as long as adult anime has been around. The level of detail to which some artists render the rope work needed to portray bondage in anime is amazing, especially if one considers that such detail may have to drawn across many frames of animation. This likely says a lot about what it means to both creators and the audience who enjoy it.
