A few years back, I used to work as a resident plumber for a sleazy housing block in one of those former industrial-powerhouse cities in western Germany.
I didn't really know what I was doing, but I was working for a cheap-ass real-estate corp that cared about their bottom line and nothing else. My ambitious porn camming venture had just crumbled to dust and I was running from some unpleasent folks I owed money to. I guess a scrawny, middle-aged meth whore with the sexual aura of a brick was no way to build a smut empire. Lesson learned. Anyway, they didn't exactly go out of their way to check my fake resumé. The fact that I was willing to work for scraps and a rent discount for a tiny, run-down "studio apartment" (their words) might have helped.
I was usually called to dumps similar to mine to fix a leaking pipe or check if the heating really didn't work when residents were annoying enough about it. Not that I could do anything if the fix required more than tightening a bolt here or slapping some tape onto a pipe there, but it helped keep up appearances, which was good enough for my superiors.
The job was dull on a good day but downright depressing on most. I won't bore you with the details. Let's just say my usual clients didn't really...errm... vibe with me. Not that I was a prime specimen of the human race myself. I usually spent my non-working time feeling sorry for myself and cursing no one in particular for not appreciating my pornographic genius. My sex life consisted of me jerking off to the chubby single mom with the fat tits that roamed the surroundings of my block pushing a stroller, desperately trying to turn some heads like she did in her glory days.

I was deluding myself into thinking that I was just trying to keep up with the business.
