Welcome to Favre-land Viking Fan
|
|
After hearing for weeks and weeks how the "old gunslinger" had learned to "manage the game" and "use all his weapons" and pretty much curb-stomped anyone who got in his way (in the dome) it was finally time for Bret to lead the Packers - oops, Jets - oops, Vikings to the "promised land", that late in life Super Bowl that would define his career as a winner, instead of the selfish, me-first dude who's been running around in a #4 jersey for the last decade. Given a mulligan after that play-off gag against the Giants in '08, the Vikings - having put the ball all the ground over and over again in the Saints house - STILL HAD A CHANCE TO WIN THE GAME IN THE FINAL MINUTE. All the old gunslinger had to do was stumble about six yards up field and the kick it for the win. But why make the "smart play" when you can make the "big play" ... except he can't anymore. Sure, he can sucker-punch a team that's down late with ANOTHER touchdown pass, but when the game is on the line, we've learned that #4 can do one thing very well - give the ball to the other team by throwing it right to them. So enjoy the near-miss Viking fan and the soap opera spring of "will he or won't he come back for another year. Bret is all about Bret. It's his world and welcome to it.
