Let me preface this by saying that I do not want to intentionally offend anyone. I get that this is a sex site, and there are a lot of things on here that might not be to everyone's tastes, but sexual identity is often very personal for people, and this particular list might come across as derogatory or uneducated to some. If that ends up being the case, let me apologize. My sexuality isn't exactly black and white (no pun intended; see my profile to get the "joke"). This is just an attempt to explain what the various terms that fall under the umbrella "Shemale" term evoke for me. With that said...

Sex categories/classifications can be a bit like 80s rock music. One person's "Hair Metal" is another's "Heavy Metal". Is it "New Wave" or "Pop Rock"? It may seem insignificant, but the implications do matter. For example, when I say "Trap", what comes to mind? Now let's substitute "Shemale". Same? Different? For me it's the latter.

As someone who is attracted to those who fall under the broad banner of "Shemale", I have developed a subcategory shorthand for these various types of non-traditional women. It's obviously subjective, but many such things are. So, here we go.

Shemale - This is the main category under which all of the others fall. Sort of like how "fast food" can include hamburger joints, chicken places, etc. I personally think it's distinct from the others that fall beneath it, but this works as a catch-all.

For me, a Shemale identifies as a woman and lives their lives 24/7 as such. The term has a derogatory feel to it, and it's usually only used for purely sexual reasons. Passability can vary, but this is a classic "Chick with a dick".

Trap - To me, the term Trap evokes images of very passable Shemales; though I see them as being younger than your standard Shemale. Say early 20s. They're also more subtle. I imagine Shemales as being a bit more exaggerated and sexualized, where a Trap is more of a Gurl nextdoor.

Crossdresser - A Crossdresser is someone who identifies as male most of the time and they keep their activities a secret from their family and friends. I think there's a wide variety of reasons why an otherwise "traditional" man might Crossdress. For some it may just be a sexual kink. For others it could be a way to excuse away their hidden desire to actually be female and the "guilt" that comes with it. It can also act as a first step or training wheels to becoming a Shemale. In any case, I think of Crossdressers as being hyper-stylized and maybe a bit over the top. They really go bold with their makeup and outfits, and in most cases it's not hard to tell that they're actually male. Sexy? Of fuck yeah. But not usually passable.

Sissy - To me Sissy is more of a mindset or desire. They don't crossdress, though they fantasize about it. They want to be subservient to a dominant Alpha male type. I think of them as lacking sexual confidence and feeling inferior because of a small penis and/or erectile dysfunction. They don't think they can satisfy someone in a traditional Male way (i.e. fucking rather than getting fucked), so they want to please their partner by serving their wants and needs. I can relate to this in many respects.

Twink/Femboy/Femboi/Faggot - This one is pretty simple. They are extremely effeminent younger men. I think of a Twink as being more cute, where a Femboy/boi might wear a little makeup or dress in women's clothes, but they make no pretense about trying to pose as female; at least not yet. I see Femboys/bois as a stepping stone to Trap status.

Ladyboy - I have always associated this term with Thai prostitutes and their like. They're essential just Shemales, though almost exclusively Asian.

Tranny - "Tranny" is just a more derogatory term for a Shemale.

So, that's it in a nutshell (Pun!). Again, this is highly subjective and only how I interpret the various terms and categories we associate with men who fall outside of the traditional male identity, and I find myself attracted to those who fall under all of these terms.
